The Power of a Resume
What the heck?
Several months ago, my old senior admin and I tossed our resumes to a big government senior sys admin position. They e-mailed both of us back today.
They’re going to call for interviews based on qualification percentage, from people who scored 100% and down. We both made it onto the list. I somehow miraculously scraped by onto the very bottom of their shortlist which is insane considering they wanted 3 years minimum experience whereas I had ONE. As a Junior Systems Administrator. Wowo.
However, I’m not writing to brag about that. There’s very little chance I’ll even get called for an interview. I simply made it past the HR weed-out round.
They calculated a percentage for qualification based on some unknown bullshit algorithm. I eked by onto the shortlist with a 70%.
My old senior admin who had more than FIVE years of IT experience, 3 of which at a senior level, and who was easily the pillar that’s holding up my old company and is even now, was rated in the 75-80% range.
Basically, kids, the lesson here is don’t fuck up your resume.
It don’t matter how much of a badass you are, if your resume doesn’t match or live up to your badassery then it is all for naught.
